BIRDS Let the birds of fable winter in your living room Bjørn Wiinblad was fascinated by the changing of the seasons and, whenever he hosted summer parties, he filled his beloved magnolia tree with “flyers”, birds of fable he had crafted in porcelain – and these birds also featured as intricate decorations on his famous seasonal platters and herb pots. The birds were often blue, Wiinblad’s favourite colour because he found it calming. Both the exterior of his house and his bedroom were painted blue, making it the first colour he saw when arriving home, and the last before he lay his head on the pillow. The humourous, blue herb pot birds are inspired by Wiinblad’s original birds of fable motifs. And, while they certainly can’t lay golden eggs, they can easily be watered right where bird eggs come out. Cover a sumptuous breakfast table with the young birds as egg cups, along with matching salt and pepper shakers. 12
